Cathedral liturgical adaptation

The project starts from the consideration that the Cathedral of Acerra is the result of stratifications and interventions that have determined a complex that is not always organic.
The adaptation aims to redevelop the spaces and functions, through a clear and consistent reorganization of the complex around the intersection of the nave with the transept.
The choice to "free" the space of the altar stems from the awareness that the liturgy is "space that makes room" for the presence of the god, source of eternal life. The biblical-patristic image of the "river of Life" constitutes the iconological theme that binds the entire composition.
The main poles of the celebration gravitate around the altar-table, a semitransparent "veil" and a crucifix further underline the centrality of the celebration, without hiding the pre-existing presbytery and choir.
Pure geometric shapes and noble materials on which the most material, rough and irregular artistic intervention is grafted, like a writing that rests on light.
